Practical AI fluency for founders and leaders — built on the framework I used to go from zero to a working business.

A month ago I'd never built a website. I'd never written a line of code, set up a payment system, or launched an online store. I'd spent thirty years in sales, stepped back, and reached a fork most people know well: sit back and rest — or get up and go build the thing.
I chose to build. And working with AI as my thinking partner, here's what came out of it:
A month ago I'd never built a website. I'd never written a line of code, set up a payment system, or launched an online store.
Since then, working with AI as my thinking partner, I've built: a website, a suite of eleven interactive planners, a Shopify store, an Etsy shop, Stripe payments, a branded guide library — and the beginnings of an AI training programme.
I'm not telling you this to impress you. I'm telling you because I think I'm a reasonable test case for a question a lot of people are quietly asking: what can someone with no technical background actually do with AI right now?
The honest answer changed how I see my own career. At fifty-something, thirty years into one industry, I'd half-assumed the technology shift was something happening to people like me, not something I'd get to drive. That turned out to be wrong — and discovering it was wrong has been one of the most energising things I've done in years.
That's why SMART AI exists, and why I trust it: I'm not teaching a framework I read about. I'm teaching the one I used to build everything above, from zero.
None of it happened by magic, and none of it happened by pressing a button. The breakthrough was a mindset shift: I stopped treating AI like a vending machine — put a request in, take whatever drops out — and started treating it like a capable colleague I had to brief, question, and manage.
That meant being clear about what I actually wanted, judging what came back honestly, and owning the result — including the morning I deployed a single file, wiped my entire live site, and had to understand why before I could fix it. The thinking never disappeared; it moved out of the doing and into the deciding, describing, judging and checking. That shift has a name — and it's the whole of what SMART AI teaches.
Deciding what's yours, what's the AI's, and what you do together.
Communicating clearly enough to get something worth keeping.
Judging what comes back — and knowing when to push back.
Owning the result, and standing behind what you share.
The free guides teach you to work well with AI. This one teaches you to build with it — to turn what you actually know into a working tool people will pay for. Nineteen tabs, structured on the 4Ds. Written from the build, not about it.
The mindset and the method. Why shallow AI use is a dead end, the 4Ds as a working spine, and one small tool built end to end.
The workshop. Access gates, house style, wiring in a live AI layer, prompt architecture, guardrails & NDA discipline, the deploy loop — and every scar that taught it.
Free foundational guides, openly grounded in the AI Fluency Framework — the same four habits I used to build everything above. Start at the beginning, or jump to what you need. Every one is yours to read and keep, free.
Every term that matters, in words that actually make sense. Your starting point.
